Caroline May is an artist who grew up in the small city of Monroe, Georgia. She graduated from the Lamar Dodd School of Art at the University of Georgia in May of 2023 and took part in a solo show in the BFA Exit Exhibition there. May won second place in the Congressional Art Competition in 2017 and interned in art education at George Walton Academy. Her work has been exhibited in several venues during her undergraduate studies at the University of Georgia. May draws inspiration from her interest in the Celtic tradition and memories of when she first discovered printmaking. Caroline’s influences include human emotion and how it is affected by what we experience, from listening to a song for the first time to monumental life changes. She tries to capture these visceral emotions revealing them to the viewer in creative and unexpected ways, utilizing a variety of media and scale to communicate the wide range of intangible moments in time.
